Affordable Housing

The League's Affordable Housing Study Group educates the public regarding the importance of affordable housing through informational meetings/forums, and encourages local officials to support affordable housing initiatives. The programs could include investigations of how zoning regulations like Chapter 40B (comprehensive permit) and Chapter 40R (smart growth) affect our towns. We could also learn about the affordable housing activities of other Leagues. Particular emphasis will be placed on North Andover, which is not yet in compliance with the 40B 10% goal; however, there will also be focus on Andover to maintain its current level of affordable housing which is in excess of the 10% goal, and to increase its supply of affordable housing.
