Environmental Action

The Environmental Action Committee will focus their efforts on advocacy for climate change. As part of the climate change focus, the committee will advocate for reduced energy consumption, green building development, recycling, water quality and conservation, reduced pesticide use. Affordable Housing

The Affordable Housing Committee 2007-2008 activities will be in the form of participation in local organizations involved in affordable housing issues.

Town Meeting

The League presents an overview of Town Meeting and summaries from a study of the Town Meeting process.

Voter Service

The Voter Service team sponsors debates for the Spring local elections. They also run an annual Running for Office Workshop to coach candidates and potential candidates on the ins-and-out of running a campaign. Other activities include voter registration drives and precincting. For more information, see Voter Service.

LWV Virginia Cole Scholarship

The LWV Virginia Cole Scholarship recognizes a female student graduating from Andover High School who has demonstrated the ideals of the League of Women Voters: the promotion of political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government.

The LWV Opposes Casino Gambling

A state LWV committee, led by Louise Haldeman, LWVM Casino Gambling Specialist, is organizing to take action to oppose the Governor's proposal to bring casino gambling to Massachusetts. To join, send your name to mailto:leagueevents@lwvma.org.
