The Environmental Action Committee will focus their efforts on advocacy for climate change. As part of the climate change focus, the committee will advocate for reduced energy consumption, green building development, recycling, water quality and conservation, reduced pesticide use. The League presents an overview of Town Meeting and summaries from a study of the Town Meeting process.
The LWV of A/NA sponsors debates for the Spring town elections and hosts an annual Running for Office Workshop to coach candidates and potential candidates on the ins-and-out of running a campaign. Other activities include voter registration drives and precincting. For more information, see Voter Service.
The LWV Virginia Cole Scholarship recognizes a female student graduating from Andover High School who has demonstrated the ideals of the League of Women Voters: the promotion of political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government.
Through a fundraising arrangement, the LWV of A/NA is pleased to offer a new grass seed blend called "Pearl's Premium Ultra Low Maintenance Lawn Seed" or "Pearl's Premium" for short. Growing this blend of native, adaptive fescue grasses can save dramatic amounts of money, time, water and effort.
